It is expected that the volunteer will develop relationships with the other volunteers, be open to giving and receiving counsel, and enthusiastically participate in issues (which include faith, lifestyle, and values) and activities of the local MVS unit and community. While there are differing expectations regarding how one is involved in the local faith community, the volunteer is willing to use his or her gifts and develop a relationship within the expectations of the local faith community.

MCC Thrift Shop Assistant

The Job:

Responsibilities to include: operational support for the daily operation of the work area and retail sections of a thrift shop, coverage for the Manager when he is away, occasional operation of cash register, recording of approved/scheduled hours on time sheet, attendance at meetings and events, adherence to all policies and procedures while showing respect for all and demonstrating good customer service.

The Candidate:

Will exhibit a commitment to Christian discipleship and non-violent peacemaking, leadership, team work, time management, accountability skills; must be bondable, self-motivated, and be willing to communicate the Thrift Store philosophy and vision.  Experience in retail sales, excellent interpersonal skills are required.  Computer literacy and basic bookkeeping skills - an asset

Assistant to Team Leader

We are looking for someone who feels a commitment to and a heart for working with people with disabilities. 

Ensuring the physical, emotional, spiritual, vocational, recreational, health and safety needs of the Members with disabilities while maximizing their choices and participation in the decisions affecting their lives is paramount.

Candidate must communicate effectively, work well in a team but also independently, maintain confidentiality, facilitate programs and activities for the developmentally disabled. 

She/he should have Emergency First Aid and Adult CPR certification.  Certification in Meds Administration, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, Abuse Prevention and Repose Protocol and Safe Food Handling, as well as Universal Precautions and Infection Control, Body Mechanics and Lifting, and Positive and Restrictive Procedures, are required so a willingness to take these courses before beginning the job will be necessary.

If you have a sincere interest in Fair Trade and bring a positive attitude as well as interest or experience in retail sales/merchandising, you may be the candidate we are looking for.

Your excellent communication skill, ability to promote the work of Villages by interacting with customers and volunteers, as well as helping with educational events is needed.

Willingness to accept responsibility for opening and closing the store, unpacking stock and stocking shelves, together with some flexibility to manage the store several Friday evenings and Saturdays a month are part of the required contributions you will bring to the job.

A police security check will need to be completed before your work can begin.
