MVSA Canada Overview

MVSA is for people 18 years of age and older, who are interested in a one-year Canadian service experience.

Participants live together in local units, and volunteer in local non-profit agencies through partnership arrangements negotiated by the sponsoring congregation. Volunteers work among individuals who, as a result of economic disadvantages or injustice, are denied the privileges of health, security and opportunity. This program is for people who will commit to living and working alongside these individuals.

An important aspect of the MVSA program deals with living together in a household with other volunteers and sharing together as Christian disciples. MVSA offers an opportunity for each volunteer to live in a shared household arrangement supported by a local Mennonite congregation, in one of three locations across Canada.

People serving with MVSA are provided with room and board, and a small monthly allowance.
